Hoper update

We went back to the Dr. yesterday afternoon (Monday) for him to take a look at Hope's face. Mostly it looks good. It is still really swollen and the deepest puncture, by her ear, has gotten really red. The others just look like scabs with a little redness around them. The Dr. said to leave her cheek open while we are at home and bandage it when she goes to summer school or we are out and about. So we came home with no bandage on and she was quite happy about that.
We had a little difficulty getting her antibiotics (stupid pharmacy), but finally got them last night after a new prescription from the Dr. He is hoping that the antibiotics will nix any infection brewing under the surface of the wounds and the redness from the one will go away.
However, this morning when I woke her up for summer school the redness had worsened and it was all pussy. Rrrg! She has been really good about us changing her bandages and wiping the surrounding area to keep it all clean, but this morning she wanted nothing to do with it and proceeded to scream (so loud, I closed the windows) James had to come upstairs and help me. **Okay, warning you this part is gross... The puss was...well, disgusting and there was a lot of it! I'd say about a 1/2 tbsp. of thick green puss just kept flowing out. This puncture is still a hole in her face. So... we did go ahead and get it cleaned up the best we can and her cheek bandaged for school. We'll be seeing the Dr. again this afternoon and I told her teacher to call me right away if she starts complaining of it hurting.
We should be hearing back today if the dog was rabid or not and then can go from there if she needs a shot or anything.
We'll just have to wait and see how it looks this afternoon. More later...
