little witches
The girls and I had lots of fun baking today. We made the cutest witch cookies and witches hats made from rice crispy treats :) I generally don't like the idea of witches, but this year the girls are being the witches from the Wizard of Oz, so I thought it'd be fun to make some treats to match. They turned out so cute! These little witches are sugar cookies, with cashews for noses, chocolate chips for the eyes, Chinese noodles for the hair and we frosted the hats and added pumpkin shaped sprinkles.
These are the little hats that we made. We also made lots of big ones, but I forgot to take a picture of those. These look really cute, but ended up hard a rocks. :( After I put them together I added chocolate chips around the brims and put them in the oven to melt, but I'm thinking that's what made them so hard :( For next time I need to use frosting instead...at least they looked cute :)
The cookies and the hats both took quite a bit of preparation, but we all had such a good time baking. We will do it again soon!

Good Neighbors=Yummy treats!!
After being gone all day yesterday with the babies and Hope in Orange county for my sister in laws baby shower, we came home to a sweet treat! Our next door neighbor Ellen and her daughter Taylor were baking for a community bake sale and gave us lots of yummy treats! She brought us over a box filled with rice crispy treats, Carmel apples and a chocolate cake. The rice crispy treats were gone today after church when the kids shared with all the neighbor kids and the Carmel apples got eaten before I made it home last night :(, but the cake is for me. I managed to take a picture before anyone ate it. Not only did everything taste delicious, they wrapped everything up with cute festive cellophane and ribbons, which just made my day!

Thanks Ellen and Taylor for thinking of us and sharing your yummy treats, they were so tasty!!!
